San Diego Downtown Real Estate

downtown at night

Downtown San Diego is composed of many small communities and is the hub of business for San Diego. The airport is located nearby as well as many major companies, resorts, banks, restaurants, and schools. Downtowns can sometimes be overlooked by someone looking to purchase a home in any major city because of the hustle and bustle one associates with it. Though there is a lot of activity, there is something to be said for living in the middle of the action and close to everything.

Little Italy is on the western side of Interstate 5 downtown and is home to a great variety of Italian influence. It can be seen in the architecture, restaurants, and the overall atmosphere of the area. There are some great little walking tours you can take all around Little Italy that tells you about the history of the area.

The marina district is located to the north and northwest of the Gaslamp Quarter and is growing rapidly. What used to hold warehouses and empty lots is now the home to many high rise buildings. A great deal of condominiums, hotels, apartments and retail stores occupy this beautiful area near the marina.

The Gaslamp Quarter is aptly named due to the gas lamps that line many streets in the area. The Gaslamp Quarter is very rich in history and has many historical buildings that are still in use today. There are tons of shops, nightclubs and restaurants that you can enjoy in the Gaslamp Quarter.

The Ballpark District refers to the area around PetCo park, the home of the San Diego Padres and includes the East Village. This is a wonderful and exciting area full of shops and high rises. There are many themed businesses that have a baseball theme and you are sure to find something fun to do here.

Cortez Hill is named after the El Cortez Hotel and is one of San Diego's nicest and oldest residential neighborhoods. Cortez Hill has amazing views of the ocean and Balboa Park and offers some very nice property for those looking for a nice downtown location.

These are just some of the many areas of downtown San Diego that you might choose for your ideal place to live. Each area has its own special feel and unique charm to it that really makes it stand out. Downtown San Diego is rich in history and character and many people would love to live and be a part of it.
