Renting in San Diego?
This topic comes up a lot and although REALTORS® have limited access to rentals because many owners will rent them on their own we can help point you in the right direction.
Homes vs Apartments
The first question, are you going to be renting a home or apartment? If you're looking to rent a home the best option for searching continues to be Craigslist but we have to warn you of scams as we see them all the time. Any management company advertising a rental is required to provide their BRE license # in any advertisement. You can verify that you are working with a licensed BRE management agent or company by verifying their license here. Remember that you should never send any money without meeting someone in person and verifying that they are in fact the owner of the property or authorized to manage the home. Remember that if something seems too good to be true it likely is! As for apartments, these are much easier to search for and we always suggest the Apartment Guide for San Diego County

DMV in San Diego
Usually a move to a new city will require a trip to the DMV and a trip to your local DMV is likely at the bottom of your list for things you want to do in beautiful San Diego. Here are two tips that should save you a LOT of time. 1. For everyone - use the online DMV scheduler to set an appointment. This will likely save you at least an hour if not more of having to wait in line. 2. The best tip but you have to be a AAA member. Use your tripple AAA membership to go to the DMV, many AAA offices now have DMV offices in them. Although you won't be able to do major tasks like a photo for new drivers license and a behind the wheel drivers exam you should be able to do registration paperwork and a change of address. Check with your local AAA office before heading over.
Short Term Rentals
You may require short term housing and you will have several options we can introduce you to, Extended Stay America is a good option for weekly and up to one month. It's typically a hotel with a small kitchen and 1+ bedroom options making it comfortable for up to 4 people. If you think you may go beyond a month and need short term housing we would suggest looking at the short term apartment rentals that are furnished in the Apartment Guide mentioned above. This option will offer more comfort and be an excellent option for 1-2 months.
